milk-tankers

A 4,600 gallon insulated milk tanker constructed by Anderson Engineering Food and Dairy Equipment (Pty.) Ltd. This is believed to be the largest tanker of its kind constructed in the Republic. The tanker is of a chassisless construction to achieve maximum payload.

The principal activities of Anderson Engineering Food and Dairy Equipment (Pty.) Ltd., which was established in Pietermaritzburg in 1958 by Mr. Eric Anderson, is the design and manufacture of a wide variety of processing plant and equipment for the dairy, food, brewing and chemical industries, as well as the construction of stainless steel road tankers used for milk and bulk road transport.  In the case of the dairy industry, a wide range of items has been manufactured, covering items such as stainless steel milk can washing machines, butter moulding machines, refrigerated milk farm tanks, chocolate kettles, cheese vats and ice cream processing plant.  The company is presently manufacturing a number of complete spray drying plants for producing powdered milk products.  In the past these plants were mainly imported.

The company has built several complete fleets of tankers for various dairy organisations, and claims to have been the first to design and build a vacuum operated tanker in 1966.  In order to supplement its local manufacturing activities and offer a wide service to its customers, the company has a number of useful agencies for various plant and equipment.  One of the agencies covers the supply and installation of stainless steel heat exchangers as used in industry.
