Module 1 (Mandatory): Introduction to Stainless Steel
The module gives a brief overview of the stainless steel industry, the history of stainless steel, different grades and its application benefits.
Module 2: Handling Stainless Steel in the Warehouse
This module covers the best practises in the handling of stainless steel material from delivery, warehousing and dispatch to customers.
Module 3: Fabrication with Stainless Steel
This module demonstrates best practices when fabricating and working with stainless steel in the workshop. It is aimed at awareness of the importance of caring for stainless steel during fabrication including mechanical damage, contamination is and how to prevent it. It explains the purpose of cleaning, pickling and passivation when fabricating and installing stainless steel.
Module 4: Traceability when working with Stainless Steel
This module introduces employees to stainless steel best practices in the value chain of fabrication. It is aimed at staff involved in Quality Assurance, the workshop and warehouse and areas critical to traceability in the organisation by an understanding of the definition the concept of traceability, benefits of traceability in the organisation, the key components of traceability, and the best practices of traceability.
Module 5: Pickling and Passivation of Stainless Steel Surfaces
The module explain the reasons for using chemical methods to clean and restore stainless steel surfaces. The focus is on the correct use of pickling and passivation processes to address welding defects, contamination and heat scaling as post weld treatment. The module illustrates how passivation will restore the passive layer in damaged areas on stainless steel fabrications in ensure that the material has optimised corrosion protection after fabrication.
