Messrs. H.A.N. Whitty and P.J.R. Esterhuizen have been appointed to the board of Jacksons in the Transvaal.

Hugh Whitty, until recently marketing services Manager of Jacksons, whose appointment to the board of Jacksons in Johannesburg has recently been announced.
Hugh Whitty was “raised in the bush” in Rhodesia, collected snakes and some “O” levels, and after an unhappy skirmish in the United Kingdom, settled in South Africa in 1962. After short periods with AECI and Alcan Aluminium he joined Jacksons at the age of 22 and worked his way from internal salesman to Senior sales positions, to marketing services manager, and now Director. He attributes much of his success to Mr. Maurice Jackson – “a very astute businessman”, and to “hard work”. Aged 31, Hugh Whitty brings wide marketing experience to his new position. He was recently elected a Member of the Institute of Marketing Management.

Peter Esterhuizen, also appointed to the board of Jacksons: a man of many interests.
Peter Esterhuizen, aged 48, has been with Jacksons 10 years, 9 of which have been spent at the Industria stores. He is a man of wide interests.
His love of soccer led him into the training of the Rangers under 16 side for many years (when the team won both league and cup), and his sporting interests have rubbed off on his sons, one of whom is the current captain of the S.Transvaal under 16 soccer side, and the other who was a Nuffield cricketer last year. Peter also writes novels: one of which was published some years ago, and the latest of which should be published soon.
