Middelburg Steel and Alloys held a photographic competition with “Stainless Steel for all Seasons” as the theme. The 12 winning entries are to be included in the 1987 MS&A calendar.
Over 150 entries were received and judging was therefore an extremely difficult task. Prizes of R2 000, R1 000 and R500 were offered for the winners and runner-up.
Dee Worman (ex chair-lady of the S.A. Institute of Photographers) won first prize for her entry of a Stainless Steel exhaust amongst rusted ones.
M. von Rehbinder was placed second with a photograph of a butterfly resting on a flower of Stainless Steel teaspoons.
Due to the success of the competition, a similar competition for 1988 will be held, the theme of which will be announced in a later edition of STAINLESS STEEL.
