An architect’s impression of the new R1,250,000 luxury executive apartments to be erected on the corner of Bree and Von Wielligh Streets, Johannesburg. The apartments, known as “Protea”, will be the first building in South Africa to be clad almost completely in stainless steel.

Johannesburg will soon have its first block of luxury accommodation where visitors and tourists will be able to rent apartments.

First in S.A.

The apartments will consist of a fully-furnished bed-sitting room, kitchen, bathroom, etc.  All linen, crockery and cutlery will be provided, as well as a radio and telephone.

The basement and first floor will provide parking for 80 cars.  The ground floor will have shops and a restaurant, lounge and ladies’ bar on the second floor.

The entire outer covering of the 22-storey building will be of stainless steel with a matt finish.

It is hoped to give readers further details of this project in future issues of “Stainless Steel.”
